Topic: insurance scam
As i am a busy doctor While working at my clinic, I received a call from a Mr X, representing a well known insurance company for my premium payment.
They had all my details regarding my insurance policy and because of covid restrictions, they requested me to pay the premium online by sending a link.
I clicked the link, paid the premium and i even received a receipt by email.
In a few weeks to my suprise, the insurance agency called again and asked me to pay the premium. I told them I already paid and proceeded to provide the details.
To my shock, they clarified they had no record of this payment nor had any employee by this name.
I immediately filled a complaint with the local police station and bank. Whilst it was an ordeal, i was lucky and thankfully got my money back after few months with lot of mental agony and regular visits to police station.

Scamsters exploited the fear of loss and perturbed the normal thinking process of their victims. There is a fake sense of urgency created which results in confusion at the victim's end and compliance with the scamster’s instructions. Every financial service institution provides multiple reminders to its customers for timely renewals of their financial products and the rules prevent forfeit/usurping of customer funds. So do not get pressured into making payments immediately and check if the product being paid for – physical, financial or service- is genuine before making the payment.
